DALLAS, TX—DECEMBER 2, 2021—Sundance Film Festival award winning film, Jockey, will be hitting theaters in New York and Los Angeles on December 29, 2021, and then will spread across the country to other theaters following the debut.

Veteran actor Clifton Collins Jr., who won the U.S Dramatic Special Jury Award at Sundance for his acting in the movie, plays an aging jockey hoping to win one last big race aboard a budding stakes prospect for his longtime trainer played by actress Molly Parker.

Years of wear and tear are catching up with the aging rider as the storyline develops to the point of where the lasting effects of the injuries sustained in his time in the saddle begin to threaten an end to his career.

Directed by Clint Bentley and written by Bentley and Greg Kwedar, the film incorporates several professional jockeys in speaking roles that might be familiar to those in the Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred racing world.

Current and former jockeys like Martin Bourdieu, Marlon St. Julien, Ryan Barber, Aki Kato, Richard Lull, Scott Stevens, Carl Williams, and Michael Ybarra all make an appearance in the film.

The movie was filmed in 20 days in 2019 at Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Arizona. The film was acquired after the Sundance Film Festival by Sony Pictures Classics for worldwide distribution.
