HOBBS, NM—NOVEMBER 3, 2021—Midday News, a graded stakes winner during the Remington Park spring meet and winner of his last two races, heads a field of seven runners entered in Sunday’s 350-yard, $50,000 James Isaac Hobbs Stakes (G2) at Zia Park.
A 5-year-old son of champion FDD Dynasty trained by Mike Joiner for owners Linda Joiner, Pat Smith, Izora Southway, Holly King, and Kelley Allen, Midday News will be making his first career start at Zia Park off of a one-length victory in a 400-yard, $22,400 open-condition allowance race at Lone Star Park on October 16. The sorrel gelding has earned $66,116 from five races this season, and his three wins include a half-length score in the March 9, 550-yard SLM Big Daddy Stakes (G3) at Remington Park.
Midday News drew post 2 and will be ridden by Jose Amador Alvarez.
