OPELOUSAS, LA—OCTOBER 26, 2021—Ten state-bred 2-year-olds, headed by multiple graded stakes winner Blood Money, are entered back in Saturday’s 350-yard, $382,415 Louisiana QHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline Downs.
Blood Money is an undefeated bay son of leading third-crop sire Apollitical Blood trained by Rosendo Valdez Jr. for owner Rojas Racing Stables LLC. A $17,000 purchase at last year’s LQHBA Yearling Sale, the gelding has earned $607,131 from five races, and his record includes victories in the June 12, $347,000 Louisiana Breeders’ Laddie Futurity (RG2), and the July 31, $827,000 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1), both at Delta Downs.
Blood Money drew post 7 and will be ridden by Everardo Rodriguez.
Fastest qualifier San Lorenzeaux, a graded stakes placed son of champion Carters Cartel racing for Rogelio Marquez Jr. from the barn of trainer Hector Alcala, drew post 4 and will be ridden by Raul Ramirez Jr. A $29,000 buy at last year’s LQHBA Yearling Sale, the gelding made his local debut with a clear 3 3/4-length win in the fifth of 10 trials on October 8.
San Lorenzeaux was making his first start since July 31, when he ran second, a neck behind Blood Money, in the Lee Berwick Futurity. The gelding has won two of four starts and has banked $153,726 while racing exclusively in Louisiana.

Also on Saturday, eight Louisiana-bred distance specialists are entered in the 870-yard, $35,000 Races & Aces Stakes (R).
Jesus Coronado’s Racing Kane, a 7-year-old Jet Black Patriot gelding, is coming off of a head victory in the 870-yard, $50,000 Live Oak Stakes (R) for state-breds at Delta Downs on July 31. Racing Kane has won nine of 35 starts -- including four of 10 at the 870 trip -- and he has earned $145,163.
Racing Kane drew post 8 and will be ridden by Bobby Ransom for trainer Telma Loya.
Patrick Richardson’s Sheza Freighttrain T will risk her three-race win streak in Saturday’s 330-yard, $35,000 French Quarter Stakes (R) for Louisiana-bred fillies and mares.
All of Sheza Freighttrain T’s wins during her streak came against stakes company and include a half-length victory in the open 220-yard, $20,000 Evangeline Downs Dash on October 6. All told, the sophomore daughter of Freighttrain B has won nine of 14 races -- including all three of her outs at the 330 distance -- and she has earned $425,259.
Sheza Freighttrain T drew post 6 and will be ridden by Gilbert Ortiz for trainer Eric Long.
