CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 3, 2021—Stakes winner Jc Wild King was much the best on Sunday as he easily defeated Apollitical Hero in the 50,303 Adequan® Derby Will Rogers Challenge at Will Rogers Downs.

Under champion jockey James Flores, Jd Wild King completed the 400 yards in :19.862 seconds, equaling a 95 speed index on a "good" racing surface into a 6 mph headwind. It was the fourth career win for the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess.

Racing for owner-breeder Jose Cervantes, Jc Wild King is conditioned by trainer Fidencio Jimenez. Two races back he won the Speedhorse Derby at Fair Meadows and last season after winning the John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge he was second in the Grade 2 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship in Albuquerque.

Bred in Oklahoma, from the Stoli mare Oh Cherokee Rose, Jc Wild King picked up $22,139 today to bring his bankroll to $103,420. Today's win guarantees JC Wild King another trip to Albuquerque for the $125,000-est. Adequan Derby Challenge Championship(G3) on October 23rd.

Another Apollitical Jess 3-year-old, Apollitical Hero earned $10,061 for finishing second. Trainer Jason Olmstead saddled the Oklahoma-bred gelding for owners Tom Maher, Paul Luedemann and Dick Tobin. Bred by Canadian River QH LLC and ridden by Cody Smith, Apollitical Hero has banked $46,975 in 16 career starts.

J.J. Racing's Quorumm finished one-length back to earn $5,030 for third. Michelle Hurdle sent out the Tres Seis gelding from the Apollitical Jess mare Apolitical Pac. Agustin Silva had the riding call aboard the multiple stakes-placed earner of $33,830. Bobby D. Cox is the breeder.

Charlenas Relentless finished 4th, Cc Revv Her and Charlies Fast Man dead-heated for 5th, Luminositi and Viva Le Merica dead-heated for 7th, followed by All Red No Blue. Wicked Sweet Z was scratched.
