Here Comes Candy Gets Up In $84,244 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 28, 2021—Here Comes Candy ran down early leader Famous Coronas to win the $84,244 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge by a neck Saturday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

Under red hot jockey Francisco Calderon, Here Comes Candy completed the 350 yards in :17.625 seconds, equaling a 92 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind. It was the third win in five starts this season for the daughter of leading second-crop sire Jess Good Candy. The $38,752 Juvenile winner's purse boosted her bankroll to $51,812.

John Stinebaugh conditions the Oklahoma-bred for owner Rachuan Suarez. PV Quarter Horse Farms LLC bred the filly from the Red Storm Cat mare Candy Cartels Cat.

With today's victory the sorrel filly punched her ticket for the $125,000-est. John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship(G2) to be contested during the AQHA Bank of America Racing Challenge Championships at The Downs at Albuquerque on October 27.

Eddie D. Willis' trained Famous Coronas earned $16,849 for second. Jimmy D. Brooks rode the One Famous Eagle colt out of Sippn Secret Coronas by Corona Cartel. Zynda Racing owns the Texas-bred earner of $35,928. Johnny Trotter is the breeder.

Ill Be Gone, a son of first-crop sire Big Lew, finished three-quarters back for owner-breeder Reliance Ranches LLC. Mike Robbins trains the Oklahoma-bred gelding out of Fast Red Rose by Mr Jess Perry. Noe Garcia, Jr. was up.

Freighttrain King, Dedikated, Gettingafterit, Precious Dynasty, Tresponte, Tellem Im High and Jess Coronas completed the field.
