Multiple stakes winner Lynnder 16 is the 9-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s 400-yard, $30,000 Q-Racing Video Ruidoso Downs Distaff Challenge at Ruidoso Downs.

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 25, 2021—Lynnder 16, a 5-year-old daughter of world champion Apollitical Jess campaigned by Tom Maher and Richard L. Tobin, is the 9-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s 400-yard, $30,000 Q-Racing Video Ruidoso Downs Distaff Challenge at Ruidoso Downs.

Lynnder 16 is coming off of a half-length victory as the odds-on choice in the July 6, $39,000 Q-Racing Video Canterbury Park Distaff Challenge. The mare has won six of her 11 races at the 400-yard distance, including last year’s $102,000 AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship (G1) at Albuquerque Downs.

Lynnder 16 drew post 3 and will be ridden by Edwin Escobedo for trainer Jason Olmstead.

Two other regional Challenge stakes will be run at Ruidoso Downs on Saturday. Fastest qualifier Here Comes Candy headlines Saturday’s 350-yard, $75,000 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge (G3). A daughter of Jess Good Candy trained by John Stinebaugh for owner Rachuan Suarez, the filly scored a half-length victory in the first of four trials on August 14. Here Comes Candy drew post 6 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon.

Ten sophomores are entered back in Saturday’s 400-yard, $50,000 Adequan Ruidoso Downs Derby Challenge. Bad Monkey, a homebred Capo de Capi gelding owned and trained by Dean Frey, drew the rail post and will be ridden by Benito Baca. Bad Monkey has won five of 10 starts, including three of three at Ruidoso Downs, and he has earned $137,946. His two graded stakes wins include a neck victory as the 9-5 favorite in last year’s $126,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) at Albuquerque Downs.
