RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—AUGUST 10, 2021—A total of 38 2-year-olds, headed by VF Kiss Me Quick and One Fabulous Seis, are entered in Saturday’s 350-yard John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge (G3) trials at Ruidoso Downs.
VF Kiss Me Quick is coming off of a Remington Park spring campaign during which she ran third in two Oklahoma-bred stakes, including the 330-yard, $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile Stakes (R) on April 17. Eddie D. Willis trains the homebred Kiss My Hocks filly for owner Victory Farms.
VF Kiss Me Quick drew post 5 and will be ridden by Jimmy Dean Brooks in the first of four trials.
One Fabulous Seis is a daughter of One Fabulous Eagle trained by Brad Bolen for owner Debra M. Gotovac of Midland, Texas. The filly has banked $14,888 from four outs, and her early season record includes a second-place finish, a nose behind winner Tempting Dreamgirl, in the 350-yard, $66,000 Four Corners Futurity at SunRay Park.
Also on Saturday, Bad Monkey is one of 18 sophomores entered in the 400-yard Adequan Ruidoso Derby Challenge trials.
A homebred son of Capo de Capi owned and trained by Dean Frey, Bad Monkey ended his 2-year-old campaign with a neck victory as the 9-5 favorite in the October 24, $126,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) at Albuquerque Downs. The gray gelding has won four of nine races -- including both of his outs at Ruidoso Downs -- and he has earned $134,269.
Bad Monkey drew the rail post and will be ridden by Benito Baca in the second of two trials.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $50,000-est. Adequan Ruidoso Derby Challenge final on August 28.
