LOS ALAMITOS, CA—JUNE 9, 2021—Streakin Victory, a multiple stakes winning iron horse who won 26 races during his accomplished 121-race career, died at the age of 33 earlier this week. He was owned by Scott Willoughby.

Bred by Clarence Scharbauer, Jr., Streakin Victory raced for exactly 10 years, as the Quarter Horse gelding by Streakin Six debuted at Ross Meadows on June 9, 1990 and continued racing for the rest of the '90s and beyond. He made his final start in the Viking Anne Handicap, running a game fourth on June 9, 2000.

An eight-time stakes/handicap winner, Streakin Victory competed at 12 different tracks during his racing career, including 30 starts for Willoughby, who owned and trained him at Los Alamitos Race Course.

At the Orange County track, Streakin Victory won three stakes races beginning with the James Smith Handicap and followed by the AQHA Distance Challenge and the Grade 1 MCI Distance Challenge Championship on November 1, 1997.

"Streakin Victory brought me to California," said Willoughby, who was the leading Quarter Horse trainer at Los Alamitos last year. "He's the reason that I came out to Los Alamitos. Streakin Victory was my first winner at Los Alamitos, my first stakes winner at Los Alamitos and my first Grade 1 winner period. He was a pretty amazing horse."

Out of the Victory Stride mare Running Blood, Streakin Victory competed in a total of 16 stakes race at Los Alamitos, running second in the 1996 (GIII) Table Tennis Handicap and third in the (GIII) QHBC Marathon Classic to go along with his stakes wins. Kentucky Derby winning jockey Chris Antley rode Streakin Victory when he raced in the All-Star Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred 550 Yard Challenge on June 29, 1996. All in all, this iron-horse ran in 51 stakes or handicap races across the nation.

Streakin Victory finished sixth in the Grade 1 Heritage Place Derby in 1991 and was a part of 15 graded stakes races during his career. In addition to Los Alamitos and Ross Meadows, Streakin Victory also competed at Remington Park, Ruidoso Downs, Bandera Downs, Sunland Park, Trinity Meadows, Albuquerque, The Woodlands, Blue Ribbon Downs, Fairplex Park and Turf Paradise. He finished in the money in 55 of his starts and earned $180,354.

After his retirement at the age of 12, Streakin Victory excelled on the California trails and in the roping arena for Willoughby.

"Danny Cardoza and 'Scoop' Vessels took him on the Rancho Vistadores ride, and they won the 550-yard race there three years in a row with him," Willoughby added. "Danny stayed roping on him and I did rope with him as well. He was such an intelligent horse.

In his later years, Streakin Victory lived happily while pensioned on the green pastures at Ed Allred's Rolling A Ranch in Atascadero, California until his final days.

"I saw him two weeks ago," Willoughby said. "I took some chocolate donuts and we hung out and enjoyed some sweets together. He will always be my special horse."
