CYPRESS, CA—APRIL 2, 2021—Power Jam (TB), a stakes winning and multiple track record holding Thoroughbred, got his first winner from his first starter on Friday when Powerhouse won a 220 yard $9,000 maiden race at Los Alamitos Race Course.
"The race we were waiting for, Power Jam's first foal and first starter wins his first race at Los Alamitos," Power Jam owner Ken O'Brien said earlier today. "Early word from the trainers was how smart, athletic, well-balanced and fast the Power Jam 2-year-olds are. It looks like they are right."
Conditioned by Champion trainer Paul Jones and ridden by Ramon Sanchez, Powerhouse, who was 12-1 on the tote board, defeated He Looks Famous by a head in a time of :12.236.

Powerhouse is co-owned by Jones and his breeder Howard Nichols. The gray gelding is out of the Favorite Cartel mare Favorite Kiss, whose dam won the 2010 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity(G1) at Los Alamitos.
Trained by Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, Power Jam won or placed in four of five career starts, winning the Pirate's Bounty Stakes while earning $130,240. He set a new Delmar track record for 5˝ furlong in 1:02.10 and a new Santa Anita Park, 5˝ furlong track record in 1:01.71.
The two-time Triple Crown winning trainer said "Power Jam was about as fast...the quickest horse I've ever trained. Being from the background of Quarter Horse racing as I am, it's definitely a no-brainer that Power Jam will cross with Quarter Horse mares."
From a limited first crop of only six Quarter Horse foals, Power Jam had two yearlings sell in 2020 including $85,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate Billions who is currently in training in Oklahoma with Clinton Crawford for owner Cavenaugh Quarter Horses, LLC.
Power Jam stands at Jumonville Farms in Vinton, Louisiana for 2021 fee of $3,000. For more information, visit PowerJam.com or call Ken O’Brien at (714) 319-6692.
