DALLAS, TX—MARCH 23, 2021—AQHA Racing Champion 2-Year-Old Colt A Revenant got his first stakes winner Saturday when Revenant Moon won the $477,200 Grade 2 Oklahoma Futurity at Remington Park.
The 2-year-old filly came into the final as the fastest qualifier from the 14 trials races that were contested on March 8th.
Racing for owners Trey Odom, Scott Bryant and Norman Allen, the $20,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate earned $190,880 for her win. With a perfect 2-for-2 record the Trey Wood trainee completed the 300 yards in :15.397 over a fast track as the wagering favorite at 3-5 odds, earning a speed index of 90. She finished a neck ahead of Hock It to You, who was another 1-¼ lengths in front of third-place finisher Shy Kisser.
A Revenant is currently the Leading Sire of 2-Year-Old Money Earners and the Leading First-Crop Sire of Money Earners for 2021.
From only three starters this season A Revenant has two winners, 1 stakes winner, 1 stakes-placed with earnings of $243,388. His average earnings per starter is $81,129. He is also the sire of Revenant Dynasty who finished fifth in the Oklahoma Futurity(G2) and earned $33,304, as well as Aint Done Yet who finished third in the Oklahoma Juvenile Stakes earning $5,500.
A Revenant won three of four starts at 2 and earned $604,800. He won the Rainbow Futurity(G1) and was also second in the Ruidoso Futurity(G1). The son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry is from the Mr Eye Opener mare Thewayyouwantmetoo.
Bred by Julianna Hawn Hold, A Revenant sold in the 2015 Ruidoso Select Sale for $152,000. He was raced by the partnership of Johnny Cope, R.D. Hubbard, Rafter W Stables and Henry Southway.
He stood at Hubbard's Crystal Springs Farms in Tularosa, New Mexico then 6666 Ranch in Guthrie, Texas prior to his death in August 2019 following an extended battle with laminitis.
