HOBBS, NM—NOVEMBER 21, 2021—Frankie B, under jockey Noe Garcia, Jr., raced to neck win over Tlc Signature to get his first career stakes win in Sunday's Grade 2 $50,000 Lovington Stakes at Zia Park. Flying Afar was another neck back in the blanket-finish to get third.
The 4-year-old gelding completed the 400 yards in :19.235 seconds, equaling a 103 speed index with a 14 mph tailwind. It was the fifth career win for the Arizona homebred and the $30,000 winner's purse boosted his earnings mark to $163,440.
Trainer Wesley Giles conditions the homebred son of Apollitical Jess for owners John and Kathy Lee and Ruben Mares. John and Kathy bred Kj Frankie B from the Ivory James mare Xquizit.

Runner-up Tlc Signature just missed under jockey Paul Nieto, picking up $10,000 for his effort. Omar Vargas trains the 4-year-old son of champion sire The Louisiana Cartel for owner Emilio Perez. Bob and Jerry Gaston bred Tlc Signature from the Heza Fast Dash mare Sheza Rusty Lady. He has earned. $102,215.
Third-place finisher Flying Afar, races for owner Gerardo Arroyo and is trained by Diego Arroyo. Hector Aldrete rode the California-bred son of Stel Corona from the Walk Thru Fire mare Jetsetter. Edward C. Allred bred the 5-year-old gelding who picked up $5,000 for the effort.
Mitey Political, Echo Of Thunder, Hotsempting, Walcott, First Apollo Moon, First Neon Moon and Uncurled Fist completed the field.
