CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 13, 2021—Apollitical Payoff got his third consecutive win on Saturday when he defeated Assaulte by half-a-length in the $232,120 Black Gold Championship Futurity at Will Rogers Downs.

Under jockey Jesus Salazar Apollitical Payoff completed the 400 yards in a quick :19.642 clocking to earn a 102 speed index into a 7 mph crosswind. The $92,848 winner's purse boosted his bankroll to $112,585 from eight starts this year.

Trainer Jason Olmstead sent out the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess for owner-breeder Brenda Reiswig. The Oklahoma-bred gelding is out of Seis The Royal Cash by Tres Sies.

Runner-up Assaulte races for owner Josefina Guzman and is rained by Fidencio Jimenez. Under champion jockey James Flores, the son of Grade 1 sire Captain Courage put in a big late run to pick up $39,461 for second. Bred in Oklahoma by Bobby D. Cox, from the Ivory James mare Runaway Ivory, Assaulte had earned $58,468 in seven starts. He broke his maiden for a $15,000-tag at Sam Houston Race Park on August 6th.

Fastest qualifier Mr Goodbye put in a late effort under jockey Agustin Silva to finish a nose back in third. Michelle Hurdle trains the son of leading second-crop sire Jess Good Candy for owner J.J. Racing. Eduardo Nieto bred the colt from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Pithia. The $25,533 third-place payday boosted Mr Goodbye's earning total to $39,189 off four starts.

Waitin On Eight, Political Speed, Nouveaux, Cap de Rock, Bv Yesterdays Wine and Fancy My Wagon completed the field.
