Cm Once Ina Bluemoon Scores Third Consecutive Win in Grants Pass' Crater Lake Handicap

GRANTS PASS, OR—NOVEMBER 1, 2021—Multiple stakes winner Cm Once Ina Bluemoon pushed his win streak to three Monday when defeated Wildfires Phantom 2 by 1-˝ lengths in the $18,200 Crater Lake Handicap at Grants Pass Downs.

Under jockey James Wooten, Jr., Cm Once Ina Bluemoon raced over the a "wet fast" surface in :30.528 seconds, equaling 107 speed index for 600 yards. It was the 6-year-old gelding's 18th career win from 42 starts.

Trainer Nick Lowe conditions the son of multiple stakes sire Ivory James for owner Chris Sutton. Winner of the Emerald Downs Championship Challenge in August, Cm Once In A Bluemoon has won five of eight starts this season.

Bred by Randy Dickerson, from the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Cool Blue Corona, Cm Once Ina Bluemoon picked up $9,050 to increase his bankroll to $149,293.

Wildfires Phantom 2, an Oklahoma-bred daughter of multiple stakes sire Wagon Tales, picked up $4,525 for second. Trainer Diego Guerrero named jockey Alex Anaya to ride the 4-year-old for owners Robert and Marie White. Darling Farms bred the sorrel filly from the Forestry (TB) mare Oklahoma Rain (TB). She has earned $22,877.

Chicks Fast Farley, a 10-year-old Chicks N Honey stallion racing for owner-trainer Diego Guerrero, finished 1-˝ lengths back to earn $2,171. Henry and Georgia Van Omum bred the chestnut horse on Oregon from the First Down Cash mare Cpr First Time. Ridden by jockey Jose Guerrero, Chicks Fast Farley has earned $52,377 from 12 wins in 60 career starts.

Hes A Bugin, Romanian and Wave To Glory completed the field.
