Q-RACING—OCTOBER 22, 2021—The Bank of America Racing Challenge offers racing opportunity to horsemen around the world, from Brazil to Canada. In addition to the rich stakes purses offered at the regional stakes races, and the Bank of America Challenge Championships, AQHA recognizes the year-end champion owner, breeder, trainer and jockey in the program.

These horsemen support the Challenge by nominating their horses into it, and then pointing them and running them in races.

These year-end awards are determined by points accumulated in regional qualifying races. Contenders receive 15 points for a win, 10 points for a second-place finish, and so on. At year-end, the top earner in each division receives an award from one of AQHA’s Corporate Partners.

The 2021 Nutrena Champion Breeder is Bobby D. Cox of Fort Worth, Texas.

Cox has been recognized as a champion owner and breeder over the years, and currently reigns as the sport’s 2020 champion breeder.

Cox built his program through decades of dedication, and his horses have excelled at the highest levels. This year his horses earned 65 points in Challenge competition.

As the Nutrena Champion Breeder, Cox earns a $2,500 cash prize, three tons of Nutrena feed and a custom award buckle. Nutrena has been the official equine feed of AQHA since 2000.

The 2021 John Deere Champion Owner is Chris Sutton of Camby, Oregon.

Chris has campaigned in the Challenge program horses like CM Once Ina Bluemoon, who this year won the Bank of America Emerald Championship Challenge, and CM Boom Shakalaka, who won the Bank of America Grants Pass Championship Challenge.

He brings home to Oregon a brand new John Deere Gator utility vehicle and a custom award buckle as a reward for his dedication to the Challenge program. John Deere has been the Official Tractor & Farm Equipment provider of AQHA since 2003 and provides members with up to 28 percent discount on equipment.

The 2021 Wrangler Champion Trainer is Jason Olmstead, who earned 112 points in the Bank of America Challenge program this year.

Olmstead saddled graded stakes Challenge regional horses like Lynnder 16, Juice Is Loose, Apollitical Hero and Apollitical Mogul.

The Wrangler Champion Trainer receives $2,500 cash and a custom award buckle. Wrangler, the official jeans of AQHA, has been a partner since 2005.

The 2021 Nutrena Champion Jockey is Edwin Escobedo.

Escobedo has partnered with Olmstead to ride many of his horses, including Lynnder 16, Juice Is Loose and Apollitical Mogul. The jockey has guided horses that have earned more than $1 million in his career.

Escobido, as the Nutrena Champion Jockey, will receive $2,500 cash and a custom award buckle.
