CASPER, WY—DECEMBER 3, 2021—During the Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission meeting held Friday November 19, 2021 in Casper, the Commissioners approved the request by state operators to conduct 52 live race dates in Wyoming for 2022, the most races to be run in Wyoming for decades, if ever.
307 Horse Racing, LLC will offer 16 live race days at Energy Downs in Gillette for calendar year 2022. The race dates will be May 21, 22, 28, 29, 30 and June 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26. The newest operator in the Cowboy State who adds additional racing opportunities, also submitted race dates for 2023 that were approved as well, at the Gillette, Wyoming racetrack.
Wyoming Downs requested an increase in days from 18 to 20 days total, Saturdays and Sundays, starting June 4 and running through August 7 at the Evanston, Wyoming racetrack. The increased number of horses and horsemen with the competitive environment will translate into a better wagering experience.
As proposed in 2021 by Wyoming Horse Racing, LLC they will run 16 days at Sweetwater Downs in Rock Springs including August 13, 14, 19, 20, 21 27, 28 and September 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25. The higher purses they provide draws significant participation from Wyoming horsemen and the surrounding states. They also submitted race dates in 2021 for the 2023 that were approved.
The Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commissioners and staff were pleased with the outcome of the 2021 Live Racing Season and look forward to running 52 live race dates in 2022. Live Horse Racing continues to make a positive economic impact not only for Wyoming breeders and horsemen but for the State of Wyoming.
