LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 2, 2021—Felix Gonzalez will look to complete the great story of his charge, El Tio Angel, as the son of Boss Man Blue goes after the Grade 2, $370,000 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity on Sunday at Los Alamitos. First post for the 10-race card is 6:25 p.m. (PDT).

Gonzalez passed on a chance to run El Tio Angel in the $55,000 Los Alamitos Claiming Futurity on August 21, opting instead to gamble that his prized runner would qualify to the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity.

Not only did El Tio Angel make the final, he did so by posting the fastest qualifying time to the 350-yard race. Even if El Tio Angel did not make the final, Gonzalez was very comfortable with his decision.

“If El Tio Angel would have been taken in the Claiming Futurity, it would have been a thorn on my side that would have stuck with me for a long time,” Gonzalez said. “It’s hard to find a good horse like him, plus he’s a colt. I wanted to see what he would do in the Breeders trials.”

With Henry Reynoso Lopez up, El Tio Angel delivered a great race. The Alejandro Sanchez-bred runner took the lead shortly after the start and went on to post the top time of :17.73. He’ll now look to put an exclamation point to his season when Reynoso Lopez pilots him from post seven in the final.

Starting in post eight will be Noe Cano’s Woman Secrets, a Separate Secrets runner who won the Claiming Futurity for breeders Dutch Masters III. Woman Secrets was claimed out of that race by Cano and trainer Roman Figueroa and in his next start he also qualified to the Breeders Futurity. A winner in three of eight outings, Woman Secrets will be ridden by Jose Nicasio.

The field will also feature Robyn Gordon, Juan H. Moya and S-Quarter K LLC’s Dasha Good Reason, who has won four of five career starts. His only loss was a troubled fifth in the John Deere California Juvenile Challenge. Jose Flores trains the half-brother to champions Heza Dasha Fire and Ima Fearless Hero.

Cesar Nunez’s Precysion is a horse to watch after everything came together for him in the trials when he posted a runaway 1-½ length victory for trainer Valentin Zamudio. The field will also feature futurity finalists Favorite Honey and FG Jess Seis.

Corona Yo, World Famous Mia, Dynamic Jess and Favorite First Down will complete the field.
