Miss Famous Eagle Springs the Upset in the $30,500 Paragon Oaks at Lone Star

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 27, 2021—A night of stakes races at Lone Star kicked off with an upset in the $30,500 Paragon Oaks, as Miss Famous Eagle edged out favorite Ss Classyjess by a head at 17-1.

Miss Famous Eagle ($36.40) covered the 400 yards in :19.637 and earned a 97 speed index on a sloppy track. Jose Alvarez was aboard for trainer Mike Joiner and owner LMG Racing Inc.

The 3-year-old filly has had an impressive campaign in 2021: she finished third in the Rainbow Oaks and fifth in the All American Oaks.

Miss Famous Eagle is a daughter of One Famous Eagle, bred in Oklahoma by Sam Green, out of the FDD Dynasty mare Ms Southern Dynasty. She broke her maiden at Lone Star as a 2-year-old and recently placed third in her trial for the Texas Classic Derby earlier this month. She is now two for 13 lifetime with $104,356 earned.

Miss Famous Eagle also received a breeding to Paragon Farms, LLC's two-time champion Flying Cowboy 123 who stands at Bob Moore Farms in Norman, Oklahoma.

Post-time favorite Ss Classyjess finished a head behind in second place. Juan Garcia had the call for trainer Jose Carrizales and owner Edgar Rosales.

The 5-year-old multiple stakes winning mare is 18 for 40 lifetime and has earned $408,156 to date. She entered Saturday’s stake after winning three consecutive races at Lone Star and Gillespie this summer and fall. In June, she won the Miss Sam Houston Stakes and she was the winner of the Sam’s Town Stakes in December at Evangeline.

Ss Classyjess was bred in Texas by Ronnie Stewart and Double S Farm, by Rock Solid Jess and out of High Class Broad, by Royal Shake Em.

Macs Lady M and Juan Pulido completed the trifecta in third place for trainer Santos Carrizales, Jr. and owner Jorge Magallanes. Anna MacPherson bred the 4-year-old filly in California, by Favorite Cartel and out of Annas Babe, by A Regal Choice.

Macs Lady M has two wins from 18 starts with earnings of $94,581. She is multiple graded stakes placed, including second place finishes in the Decketta (G2) and Junos Request (G1) at Remington this year. She was also second in the 2020 edition of the Paragon Oaks.

Completing the field were Preyn On the Mountain, Jess a Dashin Angela, Silk and Stilettos, Ec Abella, Golly Jess, Jess Eleven Or Seven, Valiant Memorie and Dashing Coronado.
