G3 Mile Winning Thoroughbred Classy Class Beats Quarters Horses In Classy Sheikh at Turf Paradise

PHOENIX, AZ—NOVEMBER 16, 2021—Grade 3 winning thoroughbred Classy Class's connections shortened the 9-year-old to 870 yards today at Turf Paradise, defeating Quarter Horse J Boy A by 1-½ lengths in the $30,000 Classy Sheikh Stakes. Another Quarter Horse Highwire Dance was half-a-length back to finish third.

Under jockey Isaias Enriquez, Classy Class scored his third win in four starts against Quarter Horses while completing the 870 yards in :45.416 seconds, equaling a 92 speed index. The win was worth $18,042.

In 2017 Classy Class was a 2-¾ length winner in the Grade 3 $107,000 Salvator Mile Stakes at Monmouth Park.

Trainer Justin Evans conditions the Kentucky-bred son of Discreetly Mine (TB) for himself and co-owner Paul Miller. Bred by E. Paul Robsham Stables LLC, from the Saarland (TB) mare Collegiate (TB), Classy Class was also won 14 times against Thoroughbreds and earned $640,617.

The bay gelding brought $250,000 as a 2-year-old in the 2014 Ocala Breeders' March.

Runner-up Jay Boy A earned $5,820 for his second-place effort under jockey Cerapio Figueroa. Owned-and-trained by Thomas Gonzales, the 8-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Jess Zoomin has won seven races and earned $164,116. Ted G. Abrams bred the bay gelding in Texas from the A Classic Dash mare Mighty Classy Lassy.

Highwire Dance, a 6-year-old son of multiple stakes sire High Rate Of Return picked up $2,910 for third. Owned-and-trained by Jesus Olivas-Valenzuela, the Oklahoma-bred gelding out of the Dance Master (TB) mare A Day For Dancing(TB) has won four of 24 starts and earned $42,977. Dream Walkin Farms, Inc. is the breeder Luis Valenzuela had the riding assignment.

Capital Expense (TB), Ramblin' Man (TB), Circus Ride (TB), Sombra Negra (TB) and Drop A Corona completed the field.
