Lone Star Park 870 Battle Of The Breeds Fastest Qualifier Slp Mighty High Is Claimed In Trials

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 27, 2021—Slp Mighty High, fastest qualifier for the $58,220 Lone Star Park 870 Battle Of The Breeds (not black type), was claimed in the first of three trials on Friday night at Lone Star Park.

The eight fastest qualifier, from three $7,500 claiming 870 yard trials for Quarter Horses or Thoroughbreds contested at the Grand Prairie, Texas racecourse tonight, will return on Saturday, December 18th to vie for a $22,123 winner's purse.

Under jockey Oscar Andrade, Jr., Slp Mighty High broke alertly then vied off the turn to draw clear of the field by 5-¾ lengths while posting the fastest qualifying time of :46.054 seconds, a 93 speed index into a 6 mph headwind.

Trainer Karl Broberg sent out the 8-year-old QH son of Mighty Invictus for owner Ed Zone Athletics, Inc. However trainer Esteban Rubio claimed the Texas-bred winner for new owner Carl R. Moore Management LLC.

Bred by Scott and Lindsey Pruett, from the On A High mare Red Ruby Slippers, Slp Mighty High has compiled a (32) 11-5-5 record and earned $82,888.

Trainer Broberg and owner Ed Zone Athletics, Inc. also sent out fifth fastest qualifier Red Red Win (TB) also ridden by Andrade, Jr. The daughter of Half Ours finished second in the final trial to Don't Blame Dexter (TB).

Thoroughbred's out qualified Quarter Horses five-to-three after winning the second and third trials.

The aforementioned Dont Blame Dexter (TB) was a 1-¾ length winner for owner Jose Alvarez in the last trial to get the second fastest time of :46.380 seconds, a 90 speed index into a 6 mph headwind. Jubenal Del Olmo-Rodriguez is the trainer.

Jockey Alejandro Zuniga rode the 8-year-old Texas-bred out of Don’t Blame Wayne by Wayne's Crane. Three Feather Farms bred the $103,080 earner.
